Plainville Plating Co., Inc. was founded in 1883 by Charles H. Calor and was an offshoot of his hardware company. In 1900, he moved his factory to 21 Forestville Ave. after his factory burned. In 1920, the business was incorporated as Plainville Electroplating Company with subsequent enlargement of the plant. It continued production of plated light hardware items. Charles Calor died on May 1, 1925.
By 1969, Plainville Electroplating Company grew to 50 employees with 20 different processes in finishing aircraft, aerospace, electronic, and ordnance hardware. In 1984, Plainville Electroplating Company changed its name to Plainville Plating Company and continued production at 21 Forestville Road in Plainville, Connecticut. The company continues to offer many types of precision metal finishing, including anodizing, hard coat anodizing, and mil-spec plating. Plainville Plating works with many area manufacturers in a variety of industries including commercial, medical, defense, and aerospace.
As of July, 2022, Plainville Plating is a Woman-Owned Small Business. Our owner brings more than 25 years of manufacturing and management experience. She has earned AAS, BS, and MS degrees in engineering disciplines, and has taught engineering and manufacturing at the college level.
